Commercial Contracting Commitments
Diversity and Equity Plan
Mathewson Standard Millwork, LLC
Our Commitment
Mathewson Standard Millwork is a small, family-operated commercial and residential millwork company based in the Carolinas. We believe that the quality of our work is a direct reflection of the people who build it, and we are committed to building a workforce, supplier base, and project culture that is open, fair, and accountable to everyone who walks through our doors or onto a jobsite alongside us.
This Diversity and Equity Plan formalizes the standards we hold ourselves to as an employer, as a subcontractor, and as a partner to the general contractors, architects, and owners we serve.
Equal Employment Opportunity Policy
Mathewson Standard Millwork is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate, and we will not tolerate discrimination, in any employment decision on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, pregnancy, marital status, or any other status protected by federal, state, or local law.
This policy applies to every aspect of employment with our company, including:
-
Recruiting, advertising, and sourcing of candidates
-
Hiring and onboarding
-
Job assignment, classification, and promotion
-
Compensation, benefits, and incentive programs
-
Training, mentorship, and professional development
-
Discipline, demotion, layoff, recall, and termination
-
Access to company facilities and company-sponsored events
Every employee, supervisor, and owner of Mathewson Standard Millwork shares responsibility for enforcing this policy and reporting violations.
Affirmative Outreach in Recruiting and Hiring
We actively work to ensure that opportunities at Mathewson Standard reach a wide and diverse pool of qualified candidates. Our practices include:
-
Posting open roles on platforms that reach a broad regional applicant base, including trade schools, technical colleges, and workforce development organizations that serve historically underrepresented communities in the Carolinas.
-
Evaluating candidates on demonstrated skill, work ethic, and willingness to learn
-
Maintaining job descriptions and interview rubrics that focus on the actual requirements of the work.
Supplier and Subcontractor Diversity
When we engage suppliers, fabricators, finishers, installers, and trade partners, we actively seek to include qualified Minority-Owned (MBE), Women-Owned (WBE), Veteran-Owned (VBE), Disadvantaged (DBE), and Small Business Enterprise (SBE) firms in our sourcing and bid process.
Our supplier diversity practices include:
-
Inviting qualified diverse suppliers to quote on projects where their scope and capacity match the work.
-
Reporting supplier diversity participation to general contractors and owners on projects that request it, in the format they require.
-
Reviewing our supplier base annually to identify gaps and add new qualified diverse partners.
We recognize that meaningful diversity in the supply chain is built through repeated, real opportunity - not one-off outreach - and we approach it accordingly.
Workplace Conduct, Harassment, and Retaliation
Mathewson Standard Millwork maintains a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, intimidation, bullying, slurs, threats, or unwelcome conduct directed at any employee, applicant, vendor, client, or jobsite partner on the basis of any protected status.
This applies inside our shop, on jobsites, in vehicles, at client meetings, in written communication, and at any company-related function.
Any employee who experiences or witnesses conduct that violates this policy is expected to report it to ownership directly. Reports may be made verbally or in writing. We investigate every report promptly and confidentially to the extent possible.
Retaliation against any person who reports a concern in good faith, or who participates in an investigation, is itself a violation of this policy and is grounds for discipline up to and including termination.
Pay Equity
We commit to compensating employees based on the role, the skills required, the experience brought to the work, and individual performance — not on identity. We periodically review compensation across comparable roles to identify and correct any unjustified disparities.
Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodation
Mathewson Standard Millwork provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities and to employees with sincerely held religious beliefs or practices, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and all applicable laws. Employees and applicants may request accommodation by contacting ownership directly. Requests are handled confidentially and in good faith.
